Thank you for the wonderful photos and information on Phuket. We booked our holiday about 8 weeks ago and we look forward to staying at the Patong Merlin from the 28th April to the 8th May. Our friends have been over before but this is our first overseas trip. Can you tell us if the Jewellery shop near the beach is still there? We think the owners name was Chai. We tried to fax him a message but it didn't go through. We are very excited and hope that there are many others who will visit you in the near future. Best wishes
Ray and Helen Leech on behalf of our friends Cheryl and Rob Hilson. We are soon on our way.

Congratulations for your website, and for the ability of Thaï people to re-build quickly and keep on moving forward. Now, throughout the world, many more people love Thai people and know how brave you are. Many wounded French people during the wace say how they have been helped by the Thai, often though victims themselves, and sharing the very little they still had. I was seceral times in Thailand, but never in the South : my next holidays will be in Phuket area, to help you. Cheers !

We were both so upset at what happened, but we're much happier now, having seen your photos and how things are progressing. We'll definately be coming back to your beautiful island next year.
Are the nice ladies at Wanida Massage (Soi Wattana) all ok, in particular my friend Toy? Can you take some pictures for us? We had some photos taken with them last year outside their shop, could I send them to you to pass onto them?
Your doing an absolutely wonderful job, so keep up the excellent work.

I'm so happy that everything is going to be allright again in Phuket. Since 2002 I go every year for 3 weeks on holiday on Patong Beach. I was really charmed with the friendlyness of all the people over there. When the drama happened, I was truly sad. I wasn't right for these thai women, men and children. But when I saw these photos of the rebuilding I noticed the strenght of the thai people. They fought back and now everything is ready again to receive the tourist from the whole wide world. I will certainly go back in may. It's my highpoint of the year.
I hope to see you all in may again.

Firstly, I would like express my deepest sympathy to all effected by the tragic tsunami.
This website with before/after and current photos of phuket is greatly appreciated.
My fiance and I planned to travel to Phukhet for our honeymoon long before tsunami hit but after the tragedy we were very nervous. Not only being anxious of something like that occuring again but, I have never been overseas and we have been saving for our honeymoon for a LONG time (this is going to sound very selfish) and I was hesitant spending my first time overseas in a hotel thats falling apart etc.
BUT, now that I have seen this sight and these photos, our honeymoon to Phuket is back on the cards and I cannot wait to get there!!! (Oct this year)
Thanks again, I will definately be making lots of future use of this sight!

We have just returned from 3 weeks in Phuket and had an amazing time, we made the trip out to Phi Phi Island and joined in with the volunteers who are doing an incredible job, they badly need help with cleaning up the streets and beaches and those who are able to dive can help with recovery work on the ocean floor, dive gear can be provided free of charge for this purpose at Phi Phi Scuba for the clean up teams. There is plenty of accomodation available and good food,a nights accomodation starts at 300baht and is good value, the night life is pretty good too. Even if you don't want to do any work, just catch the ferry and spend the day on Phi Phi as there are more small shops opening every day and they need YOUR SUPPORT.

I spent two wonderfull weeks in Phuket till the 4th of March. I am so glad I came, because I noticed how Thai people appreciated my stay and also needed the coming of tourists. I could relax on the beach, thanks to the friendly Thai boys and girls taking care of the sun-umbrella-s. I went with a tour with the John Gray boat to the caves and lagunes., accompanied by kind Thai men, who knew everything about the surroundings and telling beautifull stories. Also serving delicious Thai food all afternoon. This was really very special and I can recommend this trip to every tourist.
I would like to say to all people who want to have a beautifull holiday: go to Phuket and you will have a great time, sunny and warm weather, warm clear water, kind people. What else would you want?

I just want to say thankyou for all the work and effort that has gone into presenting this truly excellent site. Your photographs have done an extraordinary job of capturing so many facets of Phuket following the diaster. I have taken the opportunity to check in on the progress and developments there as often as I can. Having been a regular at Starbucks during my holidays there I greatly appreciated that series of photo's. While those photographs showed the building as it was repaired and eventually re-opened, I have often wondered about the fate of the people who worked there. Thankyou again for all your efforts and best wishes to you all.

Hi the team of Phuket.com,
Thanks a lot for all your pictures, it was good to see them just after Tsunami because I could see life got back so fast in Phuket. I have spent 3 weeks in February and it was the best trip of my life with my Thai girlfriend, with my Thai or farangs friends living there. Sometimes, I think that bad things, like Tsunami, bring also good things. True relationships between people. I had friends before Tsunami, now they are really good good friends, I had a girlfriend, now I want to get married (not because of Tsunami but because we had a lot of feelings to share about everything). If you can show a more pics of Kamala, that has been so badly hit by the wave, I would be glad to see them.
Thanks again and chok dee khrup.

I have been visting your site quite frequently to get an update on how things are going in Phuket. I am glad to see you are getting back on your feet again. Myself and my fiance were there when the Tsunami hit. We were staying in the Sunset Beach resort. It was a very frightening experience. We were standing in the reception of the hotel when the wave came in on top of us. My boyfriend was thrown around a bit, but fortunately we made it upstairs to safety. After things calmed down we made it to the hills. I cannot explain enough how good the hotel staff were to us, they could not do enough for us to make our stay up the hills as comfortable as possible. They cooked and made sure we had enough to eat. I would especially like to the thank the receptionist and the chef. My heart goes out to all the people who lost their loved ones and our prayers are with them. One day we hope to go back to Phuket to hope in some way that we can repay their generosity. Thai people are a beautiful nation of people. Thank you again.

For everybody whom it may concern!
Not a long time ago, I spent more than 10 months at Patong Beach. The country is wonderful and the people are as many 'Smileys'together. To tell the truth , I left my heart there and I closed all of my sweet memories into the bottom of my heart. I hope a fine day I return and I'll live my life among them. Thanks for everything for the staff of hotel Baan LaiMai, for the music of the filipino band and for everybody who gave me a little taste of paradise. God bless them all! Thomas L. Nagy

I'm just back from a 1 week trip with 100 German travel agents. We went to Pattaya, Koh Samet, Rayong, Bangkok and Phuket. Some of the group who didn't know Patong said that there was nerely no damage to see now, others like me who knew Patong before saw a lot of very quiet places that should be crowded. I think that there are only 20-30% of the tourists that should be there.
Tell all of your friends and all you know to spent their holidays in Phuket. The people of Phuket will need your support!
I'll be back in April to spent my holiday in Patong!!!
Hope to see you ...

Dear Photographer,
Your efforts are just the best. I know that you have worked harder than most to bring news to the outside world - thank you.
So a favour, if possible. Two of us come to Patong mid March - what does Baan Boa Resort,Thaweewong road look like now? And a special shot of Bar English in Soi Eric would be a special bonus...
Our thoughts are with you and soon we will be with you too, to see for ourselves.

I'd like to give a big "Thank you" to all who are keeping this site up to date. I left Patong 3 days before the tsunami came and was so worried about all the nice people I met there in the last years. I visit this site periodically and I am very happy to see known faces. I will come back to Thailand in december. I hope till then also my favorit hotel, the Puket Cabana will be rebuilt. All the best to all Thai people!!

Sawasdee,
I was so shocked like everybody when I saw the disaster in my "second" home.
I cried.
BUT:I knew, the Thai people and guests will work together to improve the situation quickly.
If I could have done it,I had been there the first day to help.So I can only come back for the 12th time to Phuket during the Easter holidays.Looking forward to it !
cu soon,
Ajarn Hans
