Hi, Firstly, congratulations and thank you for this magnificent site, it's great to be able to see the fast progress Patong is making in rebuilding. I visited Patong with friends in October last year and absolutely fell in love with it. We will definately be back and are not going to let this disaster keep us away. We spent a lot of time at the Black Rose Bar (Soi Eric) and P One bar (Bangla Road). I've kept in contact with people from the Black Rose Bar and have been told that everyone from there is ok. However, I can't get a hold of staff from the P One bar. Would it be possible to take a few photos of either of these bars and their staff so that me and my friends can be assured that they are all ok? Thankyou and keep up the good work!

Having visited Patong Beach 4 times since 2000, we were devastated to hear about the tsunami and the destruction it has caused to your lovely island. We have always stayed at the Patong Merlin and are especially worried about the hairdresser and her small daughter. We are also concerned about Tommy the tailor at Kento. Congratulations on your site, and our thoughts are with the Thai people as they try to rebuild their lives. We will be back in 2006, having already booked an alternate holiday this year.

Hi, we have family over in Phuket and we are very happy to hear that they are ok although some family friends are still missing. We are flying over on the 27th of this month (jan05) for 3 weeks. From what I can gather the news go on and on about BAD new which we all know and feel very deeply about. But you never see anything good which is what the island need otherwise they are going to loose tourists and lots of many that they rely on. I was just hoping that you could get some photos of nice restaurants that are still in business. Cheap bars night life I see is still strong. Thanks in advance and for everything you have done so far.

THANKS

I want to first send my deepest condolences to the wonderful people and beautiful island of phuket. It's very sad to see the devastation the Tsunami has caused. I also want to thank you for taking daily photographs of the recovery phases. I luckily missed the Tsunami in Phuket by two weeks. However, I made friends with some of the girls at a few of the bars as I was there alone. I tried to reach them via email and phone but to this point my attempts have proven unsuccessful. I saw some pictures from the general area and it looks like a lot of progress has been made, but I'm not sure how this affected the people who were working in the area. If by chance you go by "You Bar", I have a friend named Lek who works there and was curious about her safety. It's a small bar located on the main street where the "Welcome to Patong" signs are. I also have several friends who works at "Hot Rock Bar" in the Tiger Entertainment complex, their names are Nan and La. If you pass by the area please ask if they're okay. I would like to contact them or they can contact me in the U.S. at 001-917-509-5048. Thanks for your help and
keep up the good coverage with the photos!! I'll be visiting again! Darrin

The devastation of your beautiful country breaks our hearts. We spent an idyllic 10 days on Patong Beach in September 2004 for our Honeymoon. If we could afford to come over and help you with the cleaning-up effort we would be there tomorrow. We made many Thai friends and don't know what has happened to them. What has happened to the Seaview Patong Hotel? May you all have the strength and courage to go on after this disaster.

Hi I have been looking at your pics everyday, you are doing a great job at keeping people informed at the process of rebuilding Phuket.
I am a regular visitor to Phuket, and will be back again, I love Phuket, its my favourite holiday destination.
I wanted to ask you a favour, can you please post some photo's of the damage to Patong Beach Hotel, like main entrance road, the Anderman Restauarnat, and the lobby and pool area.
I always use this hotel as a base, and was worried about its damage. I would appreciatte it if you could do me this favor.
Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your photos of the "Clean Up" We wish we could be there to help. Every one is doing a wonderful job.
We are all wondering about the people who work along the beach in Patong. In particular a Tuk Tuk Driver who we gave an Aussie name "Dougie" He drives a blue Tuk Tuk with a rather loud stereo system. From memory it has yellow trim. Dougie used to park oposite the beach around where the bus leaves from. He was very kind to us while we were in Phuket and we are concerned for his safety and needs.
Dougie also had the name Michael Schumaker written on his Tuk Tuk. We would really appreciate it if we could get any information on him and the other people who lived and worked in Patong. We pray for them and hope that all the people of Phuket have the strength and courage to go on. No doubt these wonderful people will continue to fight for a good life.
Kind Regards
Kath, Dave, Joe and Kerry
Congratulations on a job well done.

I have before pictures from my trip but can find no pictures after the wave. I stand in complete awe of people so willing to pick up the pieces after this terrible disaster. Hello--
I live in NYC and feel deeply saddened by what has happened in your region. My boyfriend and both volunteered after 9-11 and it helped us both recover from despair. This tragedy is far worse than any world event in my adult lifetime and I feel that I'd love to help in the recovery. I am looking for groups leaving NYC who are in need of able-bodied volunteers to aid during these times. If you know of any such organization, can you please forward the information to me? Or perhaps your organization has a team looking.
Please let me know.
