I think this web site is fantastic and has certainly taken away any doubts about
going to Phuket in May. I initially booked my holiday back in September 2004
and since the Tsunami hit I have been wondering whether or not to cancel, this
web site has made my mind up for me. My husband and I cant wait to go now!!
All the local people have shown determination beyond belief in rebuilding their
island and we would like to do our bit by going on holiday there.

I just have to thank you so much for all the photo's - from day 1 after the
tsunami you have been my link to sanity - when all the TV channels wanted to
sensationalise what was happening you offered the only sane and useful insight.
Now 5 weeks on I have to ration myself to only looking 2 times a week - until
I can get back to Phuket later this year.
If you can could you update on the longtail boat crews near Ocean Plaza?
Also one BIG question.... What are you going to photograph once Starbucks reopens????

This is truly an amazing series of photos and provides some of an insight into
the impact of the Tsunami and the huge effort that has gone into the clean-up
work. The progress the people have made in such a short time is unbelievable
and a credit to the hard-working, good-spirited Thai people. I was in Phuket
(Patong Beach) about three years ago and it is a beautiful place. I shall be
back and I have told my friends that the best way to offer support is to visit
Phuket for a holiday. The destruction and the tragic loss of life is something
you will all probably never forget, but I am sure you will all face the future
with hope and determination.

To all our dear friends in Kamala Bay
You are in our thoughts and prayers. We think of you so often and hope that
you are recovering from the terrible shock of the tsunami. We will be coming
to stay in Phuket in July-August as usual and hope to meet up with our old friends
then. Your island is so beautiful and you are all so hospitable we are sure
you will soon have many many visitors again!

Hi,
It is good to see that you are getting back on your feet. If possible could
you please let me know if the ladies that do the massage and hair on the beach
opposite the Patong Merlin are ok (they all wear matching orrange shirts). A
photo of them would be great to. Thanks

Hi 'Phuket.Com'!
i have been attentively viewing your site everyday. i thank you very much for
your daily updated photographs. i returned home from a holiday in phuket two
weeks before the tsunami and the disaster has really affected me. I stayed at
Patong Merlin Hotel and went to the beach that was opposite the hotel everyday.
Whilst at the beach i spoke to the locals who worked at the jetskis. They were
such beautiful people. And when i left i didn't get any contact details or anything.
I'm really worried about them and i was just wondering if the photographer (who
is amazing at capturing life in phuket!!) could please take some photos of the
locals who work at the jetskis in patong beach in front of patong merlin hotel??
i just want to see a picture of them because i don't want to believe that they
were washed out to sea. in my heart i believe they are all alive and well, but
i cannot not be sure. it is very frustrating being in australia and not being
able to go back to phuket because i'm still a student. i would so much love
to be in phuket to help with the recovery of the beautiful city. So.. if it's
not too much trouble, can you please take a photograph of the local jetski operators?
i would appreciate it more than you'd ever imagine. Now thinking about it, i
think i fell in love with one of those locals! and it hurts so much to believe
that he might be gone.
thank you for your efforts in documenting phuket's recovery and thank you for
taking the time to read my message.

Hello my thai friends, we are looking for a picture of a massage salon(also
doing braids) in Patong beach, on Thaweewong road you have a 7/11 shop, the
salon is just around the corner in the sidestreet going towards the sea next
to a trip organizer. These thai women were so friendly and we would like to
know if they are ok, thanks ever so much and we will be back on the first of
December 2005.

Hi,
I was to leave for Phuket on the Tsunami Sunday when the sad news reached me
in the morning.Having been there now for three years in a row, I feel so sad
about this awful nature catastrophe. The trip was naturally cancelled - but that
was nothing. I do not remember crying so much ever as I did during the week
following the news. Everything looked bad in TV - I can only imagine what it
must have been in reality.I remember so many people there - I hope they are
ok.I'm going to come there this December - I will book the trip on the very
minute the travel agency starts selling them. I wish you all strength to continue
living and being positive about the future, however difficult it is right now.
I remember you all every day. See you in 11 months!

Thank you for the webside you make about the tsunami. Every day I look forward
to it. Its amazing how quick every thing is cleaned. We come in Phuket about
11 years now, and we looked forward to come on the 2nd of March for 17 days.
About the pictures every day I look if we see our Thai friends, but we did not
see one picture of them.
Also our Dutch friend (his name is Even), he comes to Holland next Saterday.
Maybe it is possible to take some pictures there. The beds are with the red
ambrella's nearby club Andaman Beach resort, and the owner is Pla. Also is ther
working Luna, she gives us the massage.
Thank you very much and good luck and see you in Phuket again.

how Nai Yang is coming along, you did show some photo's shortly after the tsunami
but as yet you have not shown any others we are due to arrive there at the beginning
of March and we would love to see how it is coming along.
Thanks for all the photos you have shown, they have helped to reassure our family
that when we return things are not going to be as bad as the media over here
have painted it. Good luck from Grahame and Barb Gould

So great to see these photos daily - I always look forward to the next update.
Its such a shame though that so many thai people are now out of work and that
some large hotel chains cannot support these people in such a difficult time.
Any pictures of the thai beach/massage ladies to the north end of the beach?
Thanks again for all your hardwork on this site.

Hello again,
Once again, this is a great site as well for people who were before in Thailand
as for people who intend to go to Thailand. Only I miss pictures of Crystal
Beach and of the Merlin Beach Hotel at this moment. They were hit badly on 26th
of December too.
Many greetings to all those lovely people in Patong and see you back in November.

Great pics of the progress after the tsunami. Can I ask, are you intending to
return to Kamala? If so, could you kindly photo what is left of the Prints Kamala
Resort, where I stayed in 2000. I think it was then called Phuket Kamala Resort.
