Thank you for all the information and photos, we have been very interested in the clean up and eager to learn what was happening to our favourite destination and people. Thanks to your daily up-dates we have decided to visit Patong again in February, without this info we were hesitant about returning so soon.
We think your cover has been brilliant - as good as all the work that has been done around Patong - Congratulations to your staff and to all the people who are working to recover from this disaster.

To all the people of Phuket, my heart and prayers go out to you. I feel so helpless being so close yet so far away. Myself and most of my family, friends and work colleagues have all donated money to aid organisations to assist the victims of the Tsunami disaster. Let me just say I cannot believe the effect this natural disaster has had on me. I was in Patong in November 2004 and have planned to go back in April 2005.

It is with great sadness that I watch the news and read the papers and see the total devastation of what was once a beautiful paradise. I hope and pray that Phuket can be restored to its original glory but most importantly I pray for the Thai locals and hope that they are not forgotten and that they get all the assistance they need. I wish there was more that I could do.

Hi, your site is great .... giving a much better idea to those us now thousands of miles away what it is like on Phuket etc at the moment. Keep up the good work. I have just been looking at the latest pics from Koh Phi Phi, where my (Thai) wife and I spent a day trip on our honeymoon back in 2001.
Question ... from your pics of Kamala Beach ... it is not clear what happened at the Prints Kamala Resort. I stayed there back in the summer of 2000, when it was known as the Phuket Kamala Resort. I recollect that it was quite near the school that I think was so devastated, and also quite close to a health centre. Next time you happen to be in Kamala Beach would it be possible to take some pics of the Prints Kamala Resort, or what is left of it?
You ask for links to your site. After sending this to you I shall post a message on the Thailand-UK forum. Many members of that, mostly in the UK.
Again, keep up the good work.
Regards
John

Was at the Holiday Inn , Patong Beach when Tsunami hit. By then I had already fallen in love with the Thai people who I thought were warm, sincere and friendly. Their resilience after the Tsunami shows that courage, determination and strength of character will always truimph. My thoughts remain with the many people who suffered losses on that tragic day and my gratitude is eternal for the staff at the Holiday Inn who wre ever so helpful in difficult moments. Thank you for a fantastic web-site. I have no doubt that tourists will stream into Phuket in large numbers both for its natural beauty and its amazing people. Thank you so much for posting these pictures it helps to see things being rebuilt. We left Phuket 2 days before the tsunami with reluctance because we wanted to stay longer so badly. When the news came of the tsunami we thought of all the wonderful people we have met on our trips to Phuket and hoped they were safe. We stayed at La Flora Resort in Khao Lak which was such a beautiful place but sadly this was destroyed in the tsunami. I want to thank you for your pictures of the Kata Thani Resort on Kata Noi beach I was so worried about the people there. We heard such conflicting reports of the damage your photos have put us at ease. They had some damage but not the devastation of other areas. I hope that Sombat who is a driver for the Kata Thani Resort is okay. We spent quite a bit of time with him and he was so helpful to us. We had already begun planning our return vacation before we had left Phuket. I wish I could have come right back to help it is hard only being able to send money and not physically help out. We look forward to our return visits, I have been promoting Phuket to anyone who listens and have convinced many that it is worth the 20 hour flight from where we live. Hawaii is nice but Phuket and the Thai people are just so much better you have to experience it to understand. If it is at all possible would there be anyway you could post photos of Khao Lak? I have not been able to find any and I just would like to know if any of the shop owners we met are okay and rebuilding. Or if there is another site like yours for Khao Lak and also any for the Similan Islands. Thank you again for all of the wonderful pictures and information.

I have already booked my third holiday in phuket in the last four years. Tsunami, or not, i can't miss-out on the great people i've met previously and the wonderful hospitality of the thai community. I am especially interested in trying to find the two young men (a.b. And bow) who were so helpful getting the umbrellas and lounge chair and food when i went to the beach. I hope they are okay and not hurt. They were great guys, who spoke remarkably good english, even without formal training. It will be be quite devestating if i learn that they did not survive. They were always smiling and cheery.

We were on Phi Phi island in the main street. Cannot believe the photographs. Are you able to send a photo of the cafe which is opposite the P P Bakery? My husband was pulled out of that cafe, the children and I managed to get to the rooms above the cafe. We were so lucky to return home as a family. It would really help to see the cafe. Thank you so much and please keep us informed of how we can help the island.
Best wishes
Sandra Burgess
