I hope you understand what a wonderful service you are providing - for your
company, your country & Patong! I rush home from work each day to check
your daily updated photos. You are assuring us that following the horrible disaster
the Thai people we love are still strong and ambitious. You are showing us the
places and even some of the people we were concerned about- please don't stop.
We plan to return again this fall as usual and have used your photos to convince
a couple of relatives & friends to come with us. From the bottom of our
hearts we THANK YOU. We have special concern for taxi driver KAW (?) usually

To this website, readers and the wonderful Thai people
I was so happy to find this website today after searching for pictures of the
hotel that we stayed in, in august 2004. My husband and I were on our honeymoon
in Patong in August and as soon as we arrived back home we already started making
plans with our friends and family to come back to Phuket. I have never been
to such a beautiful place, but I guess what makes it extremely beautiful are
the Thai people, as has been repeated many times in the e-mails. The Thai nation
is kind, generous and giving, I'm sure the world would love to thank the people
of Thailand for helping out foreigners when the wave struck and caused devastation.
I am also glad to hear about how many people are coming back, you will surely
see us back in Phuket (there is no doubt in my mind) I want to forward this
website to newspapers so that the readers can see the tremendous job that you
guys are doing to clean Phuket up. A lot of people said it will take forever
to clean up and that it won't be the same again. After seeing your website I
STRONGLY STRONGLY disagree, with the enthusiasm put into the whole clean up
I'm sure Phuket will be up and running in no time.
I would also like to send my condolences to all the people who lost loved ones
on the 26 and had to go through such an ordeal, my love also goes out to the
Thai people and victims of the tsunami.
I wish you all much luck with the rest of the clean up and can't wait to see
the tourism pick up again, and why should it not, Thailand is paradise and paradise
cannot be destroyed.

Thank you for all the photos. After being at Patong Beach and Phi Phi Island

was special as I saw some of the foot massage people. I do wonder if "Number

as I was lucky enough to enjoy her beach massages everyday whilst I was there.
Please can we have some more of the people they certainly deserve us to see
their resilience in such tragedy. Thanks again we watch your sight everyday.

We were in Kata when the Tsunami hit and were on the 2nd day of our holiday.
We continued our holiday and helped to clear up the beach at Karon, where we
were staying. The Thai people were fantastic at getting everything back to a
sense of normality as quickly as possible and the only thing that was missing,
was the lack of tourists to help these people get back to normal. I would recommend
that anyone considering a holiday to Phuket, still goes! It's still a beautiful
place, with beautiful, friendly people who need us to go to keep it as a holiday
destination. We plan to go back in April for another 3 weeks and no doubt that
it will all be back to normal by then!

Hi Thanks for the fantastic web site, I was in Patong on the day of 26th Dec
in the Patong Bay Garden Resort. Myself, My Wife and 2 young daughters survived
even though we were in the Beach Front room at the time, We escaped onto the
landing of the 1st floor, then some thai men obtained a ladder for us and we
escaped onto the next door hotel roof, we were so close to death because as
we left the room the patio doors smashed under the weight of water.
You have a picture on the site of the pool looking across to the block of rooms
we were in, if you can post any photo's of the rooms from the beach side it
would be interesting. Thanks for a great site and keep up the good work.

I was in Patong in November, which was my first visit. I can only repeat what
many others have said, the thing that makes Phuket special, is not just it's
beaches but the people of Phuket, who are always smiling and always happy. Even
with all they have gone through, if anyone has any doubt about cancelling a
holiday to Phuket....don't! You will have a fantastic time and from looking

I was on Phuket from 30th December 2004 until 15th January 2005. I went there
with my Thai girlfriend who I had met for the first time on 29th December following
a 6 months internet correspondence. As I knew of the Tsunami a couple of days
before I left England, I could have cancelled and gone elsewhere in Thailand.
But I knew that the good people of Phuket had suffered enough following the
SARS in Asia, the Bird Flu and now this. I knew that they were desperate for
people to go there and help the local economy by spending money there as tourists.
I am glad that I went. We had a great time there and the local people were fantastic.
Their stoicism, resilience and friendliness in the face of such disaster, is
an example to everybody and the impression that they made on me will remain
with me for the rest of my life.

My wife and I were on the beach when the tsunami hit and were able to escape

are quickly moving in a very positive direction. We only wish we could have
offered more assistance with the clean-up.
Now back home, we have been doing are best to raise awareness and monies for
Tsunami recovery efforts.
We were very happy to assist in an impromptu American Red Cross Tsunami fundraising
effort in our community raising over $30,000 (U.S.) for relief efforts. Diageo,
the company I work for, has pledged $1 million U.S. dollars.
Please know the people of the United States are committed to aid and assistance

I felt deeply sad for everything as happened and for the people has died, but
now I feel a little relieved watching your daily pictures and seeing that everything

I hope to come back soon to your fabulous land, maybe just in february or march

First i will congratulate you with your site, at this moment i visit him every
day. We stayed in hotel Baan Yin Dee from 13/12/2004 till 12/01/2005. We saw
the tsunami from a distance and were never in danger due to the fact the hotel
is on the hill. On 26/12 the hotel changed in a hospital were we together with
the thai staff of the hotel helped the injured people as possible. It is allready
for ten years that we come to Thailand and we will come certainly for a lot
of more years. I had a lot of thai friends but since a couple of weeks I have
a lot more. I love this land, I love this people. At the crucial moment there

In November we will be back and next year in February allso, we look forward

heard of the disaster we felt there was no way we could possibly have a holiday
when the people had been through so much. However we,ve been reading all the
messages and now cant wait to go back to show our support for the really lovely
Tai people. We're due to stay at The Royal Meridien Yacht Club and The Chedi.
There were soma small shops and restaurants on the road leading up to the Meridien
and we really fear for what might have happened to these. All their livelihood
depended on it and please does anyone have any news.
Also on the beach at The Chedi there was a lovely girl who used to sell us beer

I have traveled to Patong many times in the last few years and left only 12
days before the tsunami. My hotel, the Maya Patong Inn was damaged and is under
repair. Therefore, I had to book another hotel for my next visit which will
begin February 10 and last for 55 days. These photos are greatly appreciated.
I am sure that the industriousness of the Thai people will ensure that things
will be back to normal soon. My only concern is for the beach vendors and their
customers. The plans to limit the amenities on the beach will not only place
undue hardships on my many friends who rely on the beach for their livelihood,
but make the beach LESS desirable for us who like comfort and need shade from
the sun as we are in grave danger from burns. Hopefully, the powers that be
will come to their senses and return the beach to pre-tsunami status. If not,
I am sure that many falangs will seek fun in the sun at other nearby beaches
where chairs and umbrellas are allowed. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
